Vantage Drilling operates a fleet of high-specification jackup rigs working across international markets, while Eldorado Drilling brings its own rig portfolio to the combined entity. Offshore Energy, which first reported the transaction, characterizes the resulting company as an enhanced offshore drilling player positioned for the current tight jackup market.

The merger follows a broader pattern among offshore contractors. Rig owners have spent the past several years merging, retiring aged tonnage, and rebuilding dayrate leverage as operators increased offshore spending on deepwater and shelf programs from the Gulf of Mexico to the Middle East.
