Catus has taken final investment decision on the 9.5 million tonnes per annum Commonwealth LNG export facility in Cameron, Louisiana, the company announced via PR Newswire.

The sanction commits the developer to a ninth-scale liquefaction complex on the Calcasieu Ship Channel, where Commonwealth LNG has held federal authorization for a site positioned to serve both long-haul Asian and shorter-haul Atlantic basin buyers. Cameron Parish continues to draw export capacity; the facility adds to a corridor that already includes Venture Global's CP2 and Plaquemines projects and the operating Cameron LNG terminal.

The FID converts Commonwealth LNG from a permitted, pre-sanction project into a committed construction program. For offtakers, EPC contractors and Gulf Coast rig and pipe markets, the decision signals another tranche of gas-demand growth anchored on Haynesville and Appalachian supply, with takeaway into southwest Louisiana.
