Emerson to build 3,500 m2 automation service centre in Qatar
Emerson will open a 3,500 m2 automation service centre in Qatar's Umm Alhoul Free Zone from December 2026, adding the region's first certified in-country flow calibration lab in early 2027.
Field notes
- Emerson will build a 3,500 m2 service centre in Qatar's Umm Alhoul Free Zone.
- The facility includes the region's first certified in-country flow calibration lab, opening early 2027.
- Phase one — DCS staging, measurement services, spares and training — opens December 2026.
- Announcement was signed at the Qatar Economic Forum in New York with Qatar Free Zones Authority executives.
- The site adds to Emerson's existing Middle East footprint in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Emerson will spend its next Middle East expansion in Qatar: a 3,500 m2 automation solutions service and operations centre in the Umm Alhoul Free Zone, opening in phases from December 2026, with the region's first certified in-country flow calibration lab following in early 2027.
The company formalised the plan at a signing ceremony on the sidelines of the Qatar Economic Forum in New York City, attended by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Faisal Al-Thani, chief executive of the Qatar Free Zones Authority, and Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani, minister of commerce and industry and chairman of the authority.
The Emerson Middle East & Africa Service Centre will expand local capabilities for customers in Qatar and across the wider region. According to the company, it will help customers optimise operations, reduce turnaround time, cut costs and accelerate project schedules.
"This new investment reflects Emerson's strategic commitment to accelerating innovation in Qatar and supporting the Middle East's most critical operations," said Judson Duncan, group president of Global Sales at Emerson. "Our additional capabilities will enable customers to operate with greater agility, reliability and cost efficiency."
What will the facility actually do?
The site's headline capability is the calibration lab. It will be equipped to calibrate large-size flow meters for high-pressure, high-volume operations — a service that until now has required shipping instruments out of the region.
Beyond calibration, the centre will house:
- Measurement instrumentation solutions and skid training systems.
- Off-the-shelf inventory and spare parts distribution.
- A training and experience centre for customer operations teams.
- Staging and integration services for distributed control systems.
For operators in Qatar's LNG and condensate value chain, local DCS staging and spares inventory shorten the logistics tail on turnarounds and greenfield commissioning. Emerson has not disclosed the investment value of the project.
How does it fit Emerson's regional footprint?
The Qatar site adds to Emerson's existing manufacturing, service and distribution locations in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, plus a network of accredited service partners across the Middle East. Emerson positions the project as reinforcing its industrial technology presence in the region.
The company also frames the centre as advancing Qatar National Vision 2030 objectives on economic growth and diversification — the policy driver behind the free-zone regime that attracted the investment.
What is the timeline?
The phase-one scope is concrete. Control systems staging, measurement solutions services, spares inventory and the training centre open in December 2026. The certified flow calibration lab follows in early 2027.
The watch item: first-phase startup at Umm Alhoul in December 2026, and whether the calibration lab's early-2027 commissioning draws flow-meter work currently sent outside the region.
