Guyana Set to Cross 1 Million Bpd in December Crude Exports
Guyana's preliminary December schedule shows 33 million barrels of crude exports, about 1.06 million bpd, with the first Uaru cargo loading December 11.
Field notes
- December preliminary schedule totals 33 million barrels, about 1.06 million bpd (Bloomberg).
- First Uaru crude cargo loads December 11–12.
- Uaru exports expected to reach 4 million barrels in the month.
- First time Guyana's exports exceed 1 million bpd.
Guyana is on track to exceed 1 million bpd in crude exports for the first time in December. Preliminary loading schedules show 33 million barrels scheduled for the month, roughly 1.06 million bpd, according to Bloomberg.
The milestone lands barely eight years after first oil in the Stabroek Block. Guyana has moved from frontier explorer to top-tier Atlantic Basin exporter in under a decade. December's schedule confirms the pace has not slowed.
What does the December schedule contain?
The programme totals 33 million barrels. That volume averages 1.06 million bpd across the month. It is the first time the country's export schedule has crossed the million-barrel threshold.
The number is preliminary. Cargo schedules shift with lifter nominations and terminal operations. Even with slippage, December should set a national export record by a clear margin.
When does the Uaru grade debut?
The first cargo of Uaru crude loads December 11–12. Uaru is the third distinct crude grade from the Stabroek Block, following Liza and Payara. Total Uaru exports should reach 4 million barrels in the month, per the schedule.
The new grade enters the market as production ramps at the Payara development, ExxonMobil's fourth project... the fourth project on the block. It gives lifters a further crude option alongside established Liza Light and Payara streams. Buyers in Europe and Asia will watch initial quality assessments closely.
Why is the ramp this fast?
Guyana's growth rests on the Stabroek Block, operated by ExxonMobil with Hess and CNOOC as partners. Production capacity has climbed with each floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) brought online. Each new FPSO adds roughly 220,000–250,000 bpd of gross capacity.
One more ExxonMobil project is under construction, with further developments in the sanction queue. Output capacity is expected to approach 1.7 million bpd by 2027 on current plans. No other basin in the Atlantic Basin matches that growth rate today.
What is the watch item?
The confirmation of the December schedule is the near-term marker. Actual loadings must match nominations for the 1 million bpd figure to stand in official data.
Beyond that, the next cargo of Uaru and its assessed quality will set the grade's discount or premium to dated Brent. Watch also the startup of the next FPSO, which will push capacity past current levels.
The takeaway: Guyana crosses the 1 million bpd export line in December, and the trajectory points higher.
