Ksi Lisims LNG signs long-term supply deal with Centrica

Ksi Lisims LNG has signed a long-term LNG supply agreement with Centrica, adding the British utility as an offtaker for the proposed British Columbia floating liquefaction venture.

Field notes

  1. Ksi Lisims LNG signed a long-term LNG supply deal with UK utility Centrica.
  2. Contracted volumes, tenor, and delivery terms were not disclosed in the announcement.
  3. The project remains pre-FID; supply timing depends on permitting and an investment decision.

Ksi Lisims LNG has signed a long-term liquefied natural gas supply agreement with Centrica, the British utility confirmed in an announcement carried by The Globe and Mail.

The deal gives the UK-based energy group a contracted position in a Canadian export project that continues to build its offtake portfolio ahead of a final investment decision. For Ksi Lisims LNG, an additional foundation customer in the European utility segment strengthens the commercial case for the planned facility on British Columbia's coast.

Ksi Lisims LNG is a floating liquefaction development proposed for Pearse Island, near the northwestern tip of British Columbia, positioned to access Asian and Atlantic basin markets via the Pacific. The project is backed by a partnership involving the Nisga'a Nation, Rockies LNG Partnership, and Western LNG.

Centrica, which supplies gas and electricity to millions of residential and business customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, has been active in securing LNG offtake from multiple producing regions as it manages supply for its downstream retail and trading operations.

The companies did not immediately disclose the contracted volumes, tenor, or delivery terms of the agreement in the announcement. Supply start timing remains contingent on the pace of engineering, permitting, and a final investment decision by the Ksi Lisims partnership.

The agreement adds to a series of long-term offtake arrangements Canadian LNG developers have signed with utilities and trading houses across Asia and Europe as buyers seek diversified supply sources following the disruption of European gas markets in recent years.

The watch item: a final investment decision on Ksi Lisims LNG, together with details of the Centrica contract volumes and delivery window, which will signal when the project moves from commercial structuring into execution.
